○ Space Technology Development Program

Established with the objective to develop basic core technology and foster skilled workers in space development in order to secure original space development capacity

[Development of Space Core Technology]

Funded Fields : Space core basic and fundamental technology, and training of professional human resources

Funded Period : 2 ~ 5 years

Eligibility : Universities, research institutes, companies

Budget : Up to KRW 400 million(Spin-off)

[Development of Korea Space Launch Vehicle]

Funded Fields : Development of 75-ton liquid-rocket engine and projectile technology

Funded Period : 10 years

Eligibility : Korea Aerospace Research Institute, etc.

Budget : KRW 255.5 billion (2015)

[Development of Satellite]

Funded Fields : Multipurpose practical satellite, geostationary satellite, next-generation subsatellite

Funded Period : 5 ~ 7 years

Eligibility : Korea Aerospace Research Institute, etc.

Budget : Total KRW 48.2 billion

Nuclear Fusion Research Program

Supports the development of Korea’s own nuclear fusion technology and training of nuclear fusion experts In addition, by joining the ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) project, the NRF is working hard to secure core technology for nuclear fusion.

[Basic Nuclear Fusion Research]

Funded Fields : Base center, university-institute joint research, basic research of nuclear fusion

Funded Period : Base center: 5 years (3+2 years); Joint research: 3 years; Basic Nuclear Fusion Research: 1~3 years

Eligibility : Universities, research institutes

Budget : KRW 0.5~2 billion (Base center); within KRW 500 million (Joint research); within KRW 100 million (Basic Nuclear Fusion Research)

[International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Korea]

Funded Fields : Development of devices and core technology, financial contributions, deployment of researchers, project management

Funded Period : 16 years (2004~2019)

Eligibility : ITER Korea

Budget : KRW 100 million ~ 35 billion per project

Technology Development Program to Solve Climate Changes

Creating a new future growth engine and encouraging low carbon green growth by promoting basic and core research that will solve climate change

Funded Fields : 5 fields including global joint research for artificial photosynthesis technology development

Funded Period : 6 ~ 10 years

Eligibility : Universities, research institutes, companies

Budget : KRW 0.1 ~ 5 billion per project

Funding Details :

Developing highly influential technology in the solar power, bio energy, fuel cell and secondary battery sectors

Participating in international joint research to develop artificial photosynthesis technology

Developing a unified climate forecast system utilizing a marine observation method in order to forecast mid to long-term climate changes

Basic Core Technology Development Program for the Oceans and the Polar Regions
