Advanced Research Center Program

This program aims to identify and support research groups equipped with world-class creativity and excellence, and to develop them into a reservoir of creativity with the capacity to solve scientific challenges and resolve social issues, thus facilitating the advancement of national R&D.

Medical Research Center (MRC) Medical, oriental medical and dental universities with programs in basic medical science KRW 1 billion 7years (4+3 years)
National Core Research Center (NCRC) Universities with master’s and doctoral programs in science and engineering KRW 2 billion 7years (4+3 years)

 

Basic Research Lab Program

This program aims to help universities enhance research cohesiveness and capability and promote the establishment of autonomous research groups by fostering and supporting small-scale basic research groups centered around specific research fields, thus driving them to grow into excellent research groups and subsequently expand national competitiveness and the fundamental research base in Korea.

  • Funded Fields / Science and engineering
  • Funded Period / 5 years (3+2 years)
  • Eligibility / Small and medium-sized, subject and department-based research groups in the same university (consisting of 4~5 professors)
  • Budget / KRW 300~ 500 million per project according to the laboratory type (theory/experiment)

Grobal Research Lab Program

  • Funded Fields / Science and engineering
  • Funded Period / 6 years (3+3 years)
  • Eligibility: Research organizations such as research centers, labs and research groups among institutions pursuant to Article 14 of the Basic Research Promotion and Technology Development Support Act, which possess expertise in the relevant fields and infrastructure required for international cooperation
  • Budget: KRW 500 million per project

 

 

 

Basic Research Infrastructure Support Program

Aimed at increasing national competitiveness through the following measures: providing necessary research information for basic research; creating an efficient research environment; supporting the creation of infrastructure in order to build research hubs in universities; and fostering new researchers

    • Eligibility / Researchers in universities (including part-time researchers), researchers in public and private institutes
    • Budget / KRW 200 million (Main center), KRW 170 million (Sub-center)
