Dear Professors,


As you have already been informed, Lockheed Martin’s Republic of Korea Science, Technology, and Research (RoKST&R) program accepts abstracts for potential projects now through June 4. 2014. The Research planning team at UNIST will take your application on behalf of Lockheed Martin and the email address you can use is dhkwon@unist.ac.kr. Besides, below is the information you may need for the submission and please see the attached abstract template as well.


As for the guideline for the submission, the Research planning team is planning to invite a representative from Lockheed Martin to discuss RoKST&R initiative as well as take questions regarding abstracts and others. Most likely, the presentation will be held on May 22, Thursday, sometime in the afternoon but we’ll confirm the date and exact time sometime this week to you all. In the meantime, please take a look at the summary below.

2. Selection Process


 Abstracts submission deadline: June 4


 Selection notification: June 20


 Invited proposals deadline: August 15


 Announcement of 2014 RoKSTAR Project Recipients: September 12


 Projects start date: October TBD


3. Abstract Submission Requirements


Each abstract must be text-only, on the provided template, and have a maximum of 750 words.


Do not include any links to other materials.


The period of performance for a proposed project may not exceed 12 months.


Do not include any confidential or proprietary information in the abstract.


The abstract document must also state that it “contains no confidential or proprietary information”. If it does not, the abstract will be immediately deleted without review by any LM personnel.
 
Abstract and proposals should be submitted in English.



4. The intent of the RoKST&R initiatives


Lockheed Martin, as a leading global security company, develops partnerships with the world-best universities and industries, and these relationships often brought unique and rewarding combinations of invention, innovation, engineering and systems integration to bear on problems of national importance. Now, our corporation is seeking to establish formal partnerships with Korean universities, industries, and government research institutions under the RoKST&R initiatives to develop Research and Development (R&D) collaboration. Partnered research institutions via selection process will work with Lockheed Martin corporate engineers and industry leaders, receiving funding and mentorship opportunities of new technology research projects in areas of aeronautics, space, flight sciences, model, simulation, and training (MST), emerging technologies including renewable/eco-friendly energy generation and nanotechnologies, and other advanced technologies.
