Guideline on Changes to Research Project Plans

Established on Apr. 25, 2011, in guideline no. 21.

Article 1 (Purpose)

This guideline is intended to outline the matters that require reporting and approval regarding changes to a research plan when the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) and Academy Industry Research Corporation (hereinafter referred to as “the University”) perform research projects.

Article 2 (Scope)

Any changes to the research plan shall be subject to this guideline, unless otherwise specified by supporting institutes in terms of such changes.

Article 3 (Definitions)

  • “Supporting institutes” refer to institutes that participate in research projects to provide financial support for the research expenses of the supervising, participating, or commissioned institutes.
  • “Changes of research plan” mean that the principal investigator changes any research expenses or the participant personnel appropriated on the Research Project Plan while conducting their research.

Article 4 (Changes to Research Plans)

①     If a principal investigator changes any research plan for the following reasons, then he or she shall conduct the following procedures after approval from the head of the Academic Research Support Team:

  1. Internal changes: Changes within the scope of the research plan as specified by the supporting institutes for each project
  2. Changes that require notification: Changes to the participating researchers, changes to the expense items not more than 20% of the budget, any notifications required by the standards of the research plan in the supporting institutes, etc.
  3. Approvals of supporting institutes
  4. Change of the principal investigator
  5. Change of research institutes
  6. Change of research period
  7. Change of commissioned institutes
  8. Other changes to the research plan beyond the standards of the supporting institutes
  • In terms of internal changes defined in 4.1.1 above, the principal investigator may change the research plan if approved by the head of Academic Research Support Team.
  • In regard to any notification of a change in the participating researchers under 4.1.2 above, the head of the Academic Research Support Team shall examine whether there is any restricted researcher and shall notify the principal investigator of any restricted researchers to cancel such a change.
  • In regard to approvals under 4.1.3 above, the principal investigator shall be authorized by the head of the Academic Research Support Team to apply for any change to the research plan to the supporting institutes. The changes to the research plan shall take effect as of the day of notification of approval from the supporting institutes, and the head of the Academic Research Support Team shall inform the principal investigator of the application results.

Article 5 (Rules of Application)

In regard to change of research plan, other matters not specified in this guideline shall be mutatis mutandis covered by the relevant regulations of the supporting institute.

Supplementary Provision (April 25, 2011)

  1. (Effective Date)

This guideline shall take effect as of the date of its announcement.

  1. (Interim Measures)

The management of changes to the research expenses plan executed before the enforcement of this guideline shall be considered as based hereon.
